Independent network and security expert. Consultant and advisor based in Ontario, Canada.
Networks, physical security, and cybersecurity. Independent advice on all three.
Hans Study is an independent network and security expert with fifteen years of field experience across the public sector, defence, public safety, and critical infrastructure. The work is boutique: enterprise networks, OT and ICS, controls and security systems, and the infrastructure underneath them. Hans specializes in hardening and tuning systems where the stakes are high and the margin for error is small.
Primary stacks are Microsoft Windows (server and workstation), Cisco, Aruba, and Genetec Security Center, with regular work across Axis, Bosch, Milestone, Avigilon, C-CURE, Fortinet, Palo Alto, Juniper, and Alcatel-Lucent OmniSwitch.
- Design networks and physical security systems
- Solve complex integration and technical problems
- Harden and tune infrastructure and organizations
- Develop technical courseware and educational content
- Mentor practitioners and integrators
This is where the tools, scripts, and courseware live. Most are PowerShell utilities, configuration generators, or interactive courseware built for network and security practitioners.

Who is this for? The tools and courseware here are for network and security practitioners, integrators, and IT generalists working on systems that have to actually work in the field.
What does "boutique" mean? Boutique means small-scale, high-specificity work. Hans does not run a 50-person consulting firm. The practice is one person, deeply specialized, working on problems that do not fit a tidy category.
Where is Hans based? Ontario, Canada. Work spans Canada and the United States.
What sectors does Hans work in? Government, public safety, defence, critical infrastructure, healthcare, airports, and enterprise environments.
